About me.

Nice to meet you 🤝

I’m Jakita, a UX designer based in the UK.

My journey as a designer began when I was ‘knee-high’, I have always loved the idea of bringing sketches to life and I am passionate about the thought of another person using products I have worked on.

With that being said as a self-taught UX designer who has recently completed the Love Circular UX / UI Bootcamp I can finally say I feel at home with design. I am never limiting my capabilities and sometimes enjoy a challenge more than an easier route.

I am currently hoping to start a new journey within a design based role and would love an opportunity of a lifetime.

When I'm not creating user centred designs, I am ...

Taking Photos

There is something about photography that creates a memorable impact, I enjoy documenting parts of my life that my mind may forget in the future. I feel this has an impact on my design thought process such as recording journeys or collating information that keeps memories relevant.

Watching Sports

Growing up I have always been competitive (I was a part of various sporting teams), this has helped me understand from a design perspective to keep my designs trend lead and always maintain a keen eye for detail.

Seeing The World

I have always enjoyed travelling from a young age, I like how different cultures have a united understanding when it comes to various perspectives of designs especially typography. This helps me understand that when designing for a user always think outside the box. It has also enabled me to easily communicate with internationally based stakeholders in a professional space.

Illustrating

I am an avid Adobe user, I love to create designs from scratch but with visual meanings, I feel that being a creative person has allowed me to gain insight into the core functions of systems and design tools whilst having the ability to learn more.

Cooking and occasionally Baking

I would consider myself a massive foodie, similar to travelling I feel food is a cultural talking point. The process of cooking opens doors of expression ‘visually’ and is an extension of me as a person, it can bring people from different works of life together collaboratly.

Shopping

Following my history within the retail industry, shopping is a leisure activity that I love to do. It has enabled me to not only be trend-focused but also gather an understanding of a user’s wants/needs and what can potentially influence a user’s decision when buying both online and in-store. As an analytical thinker, I don’t just take shopping as an enjoyable experience, I shop as a process of researching i.e. competitor analysis.
